The Full Story

Our Model

Women Led

The pilot model for Aminat will begin with a small cohort of 10 female entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone. With a timeline of one year, the team will be curating a 9-month program with a fellowship start date of Fall 2023. Each fellow will be equipped with funding, resources, and support to develop and execute their business ideas. With bi-weekly business training, virtual check-ins, and
one-on-one mentoring they will have the resources to achieve their business goals.

Community Centered

We heavily rely on social impact metrics rather than set profit-driven goals. Aminat believes this method will prioritize educating our entrepreneurs to solve the problem their community is facing while creating jobs to create long-lasting economic impact rather than immediately focusing on quick profits.

Impact Driven

We believe African women are the key to increasing GDP in their respective nations. By accelerating homegrown innovation and programming to targeted problems within communities, we hope to highlight that when African women succeed, it contributes to the economy and improves their lives, the lives of their families, and the lives of people in their communities.

Environmentally Ethical

Aminat has a keen focus on selecting sustainability-centered businesses and has partnered with Freetown Waste Transformers to ensure the operations of each business are environmentally friendly. We also embed this practice in with our Cohort through group/village savings. This practice also called ‘Osusu’ has roots in Sierra Leonean indigenous financial culture.
